At 13:53hrs, Good Will was dispatched to assist Wilmington Manor Fire Company on a Multi-Residential Fire. While enroute, units were advised of people trapped on the balconies, with several calls reporting a fire.
Engine 28 arrived with Fire Showing. Ladder 18 arrived as the 1st Due Special Service company, splitting to ventilate and search for victims. Fire and smoke extended to apartments on each side of the building, and the Red Cross was notified for 12 displaced apartments.
2 civilians were rescued by bystanders moments before the arrival of Fire Department resources. There were no other injuries to civilians. Firefighters operated over 2 hours to check for hot spots. The Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause, and Deputy Chief 18 had the Wilmington Manor Command.
