Outside Fire Under the Delaware Memorial Bridge

While clearing a box alarm in the Christiana Fire district, Engine 18-6 was directed to respond back to the East Side to assist Station 20 on a large outside fire. Engine 18-6 made the response. Upon arrival, the crew was directed to assist in setting up a draft site. Engine 18-6 began setting up when Tanker 29 arrived. Due to the larger pump on the tanker, that unit was moved into position to start the draft and the crew from the engine assisted with setting up the draft. Once the draft was establised, the crew operated a hand line for 30 min until the foam system was set up by the Delaware Air Guard Fire Department. It was determined that pallets of rubber construction debris were burning along with other debris in the area.
