Small Fire with Injury in Washington Park

On Saturday Afternoon, units were alerted to a Residential Structure Fire on the 700 block of West 11th Street in the Washington Park Community. Engine and Ladder 18 made a quick response. Before arrival, a NCC Paramedic Lieutenant and New Castle City police officer entered the home and removed one victim who was suffering from smoke inhilation. Engine 18 arrived and reported a smoke contition in the home. The Engine crew secured their own water supply and stretched a handline to find an extinguished kitchen fire. Ladder 18 arrived and assisted with checking for extension. Additional searches of the home proved negative and the incident was scaled back. One resident was treated for smoke inhilation adn transperted to the local hospital for evaluation.
Responding units included Good Will E18, L18, E18-6, Wilmington Manor L28 and A32, Christiana E12 and L12, Minquadale E22-3, Holloway Terrace R20, and NCC Paramedics.
