Monday afternoon and evening kept members busy. In the afternoon, Good Will, Holloway Terrace, and Port Penn marine units were alerted to a possible sailboat in distress off of Pennsvile Beach. Rescue Boat 18 Marine 1 responded and made contact with the vessel. The crew learned that the winds were too much for the small craft and the operator could not get the vessel safely back to shore. The crew from 18 Marine 1 assisted the operator in lowering the sail and towing the vessel back to shore.
Later in the evening, Squad 18and Fire Police responded to the scene of a Property Damage Motor Vehicle Accident in the 500 block on Moores Lane. The crew controled leaking fluids from the vehicle and secured the vehicle.
Inbetween call, the crews shook out some of the marine rescue personal protective equipment for maintenance. Dry suits were serviced and the remainder of the ppe in the MRU was organized and cleaned up.
Finally, Engine and Ladder 18 responded to a Fire Alarm investigation on the 200 block of East Second Street. The crews determoned the activation to be caused by a faulty detector. Units operated for 15 minutes before clearing.
