At 4:50pm Tuesday afternoon, NCC Emergency Communications received a distress signal from the Coast Guard for a vessel taking on water in the Delaware River. Rescue Boat 18 Marine 1 made the response from New Castle while Rescue Boat 29 Marine 1 responded from Augustine Beach and 23 Marine 1 responded from Newport. Crews located the vessel roughly 100 yards north of the power lines in the area of "C" light with the assistance of Trooper 4. Good Will and Port Penn crews arrived at the same time and found the vessel filling with water. The crews placed a pump in service and, upon the arrival of the Coast Guard Small Boat, placed a second pump in service. Crews then started moving the vessel towards Delaware City Marina under the power of 29 Marine 1 and 18 Marine 1 while keeping up with dewatering. The crew from the USCG Small Boat worked with the crews to maintain the dewatering operations. When approaching Delaware City, SeaTow took over and moved the vessel to the docks. Crews operated for over three hours on the river.
