Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

Monday, May 6, 2019

Shortly after 9pm, units were alerted to a Motor Vehicle Accident on River Road at Grantham Lane. Immediately after dispatch the incident was upgraded to an entrapment, adding New Castle County Paramedics Medic 2 and Aviation. Ambulance and Squad 18 arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway with one trapped occupant. The crews worked together to provide patient care and cut the vehicle away from the patient to remove them to the ambulance. Once extricated, the patient was transferred to the care of ALS and BLS. Despite the care provided by responder, the patient was prounced deceased at the scene. The roadway was closed by DELDOT in both directions.
